Before & After: Our Bedroom Transformation!

A bedroom transformation is one of the most rewarding parts of interior design—creating a space that is both functional and beautiful. Turning our bedroom into a dreamy, stylish retreat was a journey! From knocking down walls to adding thoughtful design elements, here’s how we completely reimagined our bedroom renovation.

The Before: Rethinking the Layout from the Start

When we bought the flat, we knew we wanted to completely change the layout. We had always dreamed of having a walk-through dressing, and having a large bedroom gave us the opportunity to make it happen. The original layout forced us to go through a tiny room to enter the bedroom, which felt inconvenient and closed off. The flat also had different flooring types in each room, so from the beginning, we planned to update them for a cohesive look. The dark floors made the space feel even smaller and darker, so we opted for a light vinyl flooring—water-resistant and practical—with a herringbone pattern for a touch of elegance. We knew it was time for a major change!

The Plan: A Functional & Stylish Bedroom Renovation

We wanted a modern, functional, and stylish space—one that maximized natural light, storage, and flow while reflecting our personal style. Here’s what we tackled:

✔ Removed the old green wallpaper & laminate flooring – A fresh start was needed!

✔ Replaced the small window & old heater – Installed a huge sliding window for more light and swapped the old heater for a sleek, black statement radiator.

✔ Knocked down a wall & reworked the layout – Instead of entering through a tiny room, we created a walk-through dressing area leading into the bedroom.

✔ Closed an old door opening & created a new one – For better access and improved bedroom flow.

✔ Built a wall-to-wall headboard – A stylish and functional feature that ties the space together.

✔ Added new ceiling lights & wall paneling – The final touch for an elegant and cozy atmosphere (and yes, that paneling deserves its own post!).

The Process: A True Labor of Love

From planning to execution, this bedroom makeover was a mix of excitement, hard work, and patience. One fun fact? By the time we got to wallpapering and building the headboard, I was 8 months pregnant! Let’s just say it was an adventure. 😅

The After: A Space That Feels Like Us

The transformation is everything we wanted and more. The natural light, functional layout, and statement details turned our bedroom into a space that’s both practical and luxurious—a true reflection of thoughtful interior design.

We’re almost done, just need to find the motivation to paint our bedside tables beige, add feet & handles, and style them a bit—then we’re officially calling it complete!
